One of our favourite places to go Bus Spotting for photos and videos is Newcastle. There is always something new to see! The main operators are Go North East, Stagecoach and Arriva. If you fancy visiting yourself we’d recommend checking out the following spots.
Recommended Bus Spotting Spots in Newcastle
Haymarket Bus Station/Eldon Square Bus Station
These two bus stations are side by side with the exit to one being the entrance to the other. You’ll find a variety of buses there and it’s possible to stand facing north so you can avoid shooting into the sun. There is a large multistory car park right beside Prudhoe Place the road we’d suggest to check out as your starting point.
The Junction beside Newcastle City Library
You’ll get a variety of buses passing through the junction of New Bridge Street West and John Dobson Street by the Newcastle City Library and Laing Art Gallery. There’s a nice wide pedestrian area beside the Laing which is great to bus spot from. Do watch out for the cyclists in the cycle lanes though.
The Junction of Grainger Street, Newgate Street by Bigg Market
Another good spot. The buses will come down Newgate Street towards Grainger Street so thats the way to face. This is also a great spot to sit and have your lunch as there is seating and a monument with steps you can sit on.
