Sunderland Bus Videos

Sunderland is another great place to go spotting with Go North East, Stagecoach and Arriva buses. There are plenty of car parks and it’s also easy to get there by Metro or regular train. Unfortunately you’re not allowed to do any spotting on any of the Metro or train platforms anymore, but there’s stil all the lovely buses to see.

Our Favourite Bus Spotting Spots in Sunderland

Park Lane Interchange (Bus Station)

Park Lane has two ‘areas’ and they both have their own entrance and exit. Fortunately they’re not very far apart. The larger section which also gets the majority of buses has it’s entrance and exit at the same place from Stockton Road. There is a large wide pavedment area with railings at this point making it ideal for spotting. You can ever shoot northwards and avoid harsh shadows.

The smaller section which also services any coaches which arrive has it’s entrance on A1231 Grange Terrace and exits onto Cowan Terrace. This section has a much lower volume of vehicles.

Just to the north of Park Lane on Stockton Road you do get multiple services that turn oof onto Derwent Street and don’t go into the bus station so it’s always worth checking that out as well.

Fawcett Street

Like many cities there are a lot of services which don’t go into the main Bus Station and in Sunderland a lot of them go through the junction of Holmside, Burton Road, Borough Road and Fawcett Street (beside the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens).  A lot of these services then turn down Fawcett Street which is one way and has multiple bus stops.  So it’s well worth checking out that area as well.
